Perfect for Your Swiss Elopement

As you move forward planning your elopement in Switzerland, one of the most important — and most fun — parts of the process is picking which romantic hotels in Switzerland you will stay at.

One of the best parts of a destination elopement is the ability to explore and experience the local areas. Picking a fun and unique hotel is a large part of that experience — and being that it is your wedding, you are going to want to find one that is full of romance and beauty.

Here are my top ten most romantic hotels in Switzerland, ones that I think would be a perfect home base while you are abroad.

Most Romantic Hotels in Switzerland

The Cambrian Adelboden

The Cambrian Adelboden is a 4-star hotel located in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. With stunning views of the Alps, the property combines an intimate setting with epic views. Additionally, it offers many amenities such as couple’s massages and carriage rides that make it a romantic and unique experience.

It is situated close to the French border and surrounded completely by mountains and the decor is very modern and simple, yet comfortable and elevated. It offers heated indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, and a restaurant that offers a pre-set menu with only locally acquired foods.

For Bonvoy members, the hotel is a part of the Design Hotels through Marriott.

The Hotel Villa Honegg

Situated on Lake Lucerne is the Hotel Villa Honegg. This 5-star, boutique hotel is intimate with only 23 rooms but these 23 rooms are unforgettable with their inviting and elegant ambiance. A highlight of this hotel is the rooftop pool. The pool is heated, offering year-round usage, and offers spectacular vistas of the Alps and the lake.

The resort does host weddings (both large and small ones) and has great activities such as private boat rides on Lake Lucerne. Additionally, the hotel is a mere 20 minutes from the magical city of Lucerne, a must-visit on your honeymoon.

The Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof

If having an elopement in Grindelwald is your plan — you can read more about that here — then you should consider a stay at the Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof. As with all Romantik Hotels, the Schweizerhof is family-owned and personally run, as it has been for years. It also places a strong emphasis on sustainable practices, including almost entirely eliminating plastics from the property, as well as on supporting non-profits such as SapoCycle. The decor is comfortable and romantic with an air of regality.

The hotel offers helicopter tours of the surrounding mountains, ski-out options, and electric mountain bike rentals.

The Romantik Hotel Hornberg

Another Romantik Hotel, the Romantik Hotel Hornberg is a 4-star hotel located in Gstaad, Switzerland. The hotel is located in a beautiful chalet and offers a variety of romantic amenities, including a couples massage, a private dinner in your room, and a romantic fondue dinner in front of the fireplace.

The Romantik Hotel Hornberg is in the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts with easy access to world-renowned ski slopes, cross-country ski runs, and mountain bike trails. It is located in a quiet, private location and is a romantic place for a couple who just got married.

Hotel Eden Roc

I mentioned the Ascona region as being a wonderful place to elope in Switzerland in the previous article and with it was a notation that Hotel Eden Roc was an absolutely brilliant choice for hotel lodging in the area.

The Hotel Eden Roc is a true oasis. Nestled in lovely gardens on the coast of Lake Maggiore, this pristine hotel is exactly the escape you need to relax and enjoy your first days as newlyweds.

It was rated the number-one holiday hotel in Switzerland by Karl Wild. With calming decor inspired by the surrounding natural beauty, Eden Roc is truly an inspirational and refined retreat — making it easy to see why it garnered the top spot in the list.

It is worth noting that Hotel Eden Roc is also 100% carbon neutral and has been since 2019.

This five-star hotel is fresh and relaxed, filled with ample opportunities to get on the water through yachting, paddling, or just swimming. And with wild lush gardens, a tantalizing pristine spa, and a Michelin-starred restaurant, you are sure to be pampered and well-cared for.

The hotel offers stylish, comfortable rooms, gourmet dining, and an opulent spa, perfect for a stop during your elopement.

The Kulm Hotel St. Moritz

The Kulm Hotel St. Moritz is a historic, 5-star hotel located in St. Moritz, Switzerland. This is one of the most romantic hotels in Switzerland with its beautiful views, classic decor, and a strong heritage of Swiss hospitality.

Even the standard rooms at this iconic hotel are immaculately designed with clean lines and a decidedly minimalistic approach. With its own private ski slope, the resort is an ideal winter location but also offers ample activities in the summer as well.

The Dolder Grand

With an interesting mix of modern and classic luxury, the Dolder Grand is an oasis with extraordinary care for details and experiences. The Dolder Grand is one of the best romantic hotels in Switzerland and is a great starting place to start your Swiss tour if arriving in Zurich.

The Schlosshotel Zermatt

If a Swiss elopement in the Zermatt area is in your plans, then I highly recommend the Schlosshotel Zermatt.  This wellness hotel offers a spa, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and stunning views of the Matterhorn. The resort is highly focused on outdoor activities and rejuvenation, perfect for a relaxing honeymoon spot.

Meet Ezechiel

With my love of classical art and my passion for learning languages, I was destined to become a photographer for people from all over the world — people just like you.

Getting to know you, your story, and your intricacies is key to the unique and personal approach that I take with all of my photography clients. Each person, and therefore each session, is different and its own story.

I take great pride in creating work that is natural and organic, yet still refined and fashion-forward.
